Digital Schools Award
All the pupils and staff at Cedarbank school are celebrating being awarded the prestigious Digital Schools Award. Cedarbank is the first West Lothian school for pupils with additional learning needs to achieve the award and staff and pupils are absolutely delighted.
The Digital Schools Awards is a national awards scheme to promote, recognise and encourage a whole school approach to the use of digital technology in schools. Cedarbank have been developing their use of digital technologies across the three school sites - at the main building in Ladywell, and the Senior Phase annexes at Armadale Academy and Deans Community High School. The aim has been to remove barriers to learning for their pupils, raise attainment and ambition and enhance learning experiences for pupils.
Mrs McDonald said, "The use of digital technology reduces many barriers to learning for our young people, enabling them to access their learning in a variety of contexts, independently and with confidence. The development of digital learning skills is a skill for life which opens many opportunities and enhances the learning and opportunities for of our young people, both now and for their future."
At Cedarbank School we are looking forward to continuing our digital journey as we move into our new school building on the campus of James Young High School early this year. We are eager to further develop digital literacy in the school and in our mainstream partnership with James Young High School.
