National 3 and 4 Business covers a number of areas relating to the business world.

They look at:

• Types of business, like sole traders and partnerships
• How to attract customers to a business
• How to keep customers loyal to a business
• What skills a business owner should ideally have
• Where businesses can get finance and advice
• Who the stakeholders of a business are
• Challenges faced by businesses
• The roles of different departments in a business, for example finance and personnel
• Using IT in business, for example spreadsheets and power point
• Looking at cash budgets for a small business
• How things outside a business can effect it, for example climate change and new laws

You will develop an inside knowledge of how a business works, what it might be like to own a business and some of the challenges they face.
