Religious Education

Pupils in Senior phase study the SCQF Religion, Belief and Values Award for RE.

The award starts at Level 3 and goes up to Level 6.

They do one hour of a RE a week in S4 and S5.  The award will:

1. Develop successful learners and responsible citizens by developing knowledge and understanding of topics involving religion or religious belief
2. Develop confident individuals by encouraging learners to reflect on their faith or values
3. Put faith in action and help the local community

Pupils will study a controversial topic which promotes debate and investigate how they can help their local community.  This might involve helping a food bank or a charity. 

Religion is discussed sensitively and many viewpoints are encouraged.  The pupils can engage with issues in the local, national and international community.
